The tractor is a 1948 DC. I did the unthinkable yesterday, while assembling my engine I dropped the flywheel and now it is in three pieces. Two of them weight about 3oz each. The metal of the flywheel looks chrystalized, so I am wondering if welding the parts together will it hold. Has anyone ever welded one of these? Or does anyone have a good one available close to New Mexico?

If it will fit in a flat rate box, it is $8.10 anywhere in the lower 48. We have shipped some heavy items this way. There are two different size boxes. The rub is the item has to fit in the box.

Priority from our Post Office to Mike is $89.55 for a 65# Flywheel. When we ship we constantly compare USPS with Fed Ex, & ship accordingly.

John, check out the USPS flat rate boxes. I don"t think a flywheel will fit in, but you can ship anything you can fit in the various size boxes they have for $8.10. It"s much cheaper and I had the worker check the regular priority cost on the same box and it was $27.00 on the last item I shipped. The boxes are free also!!

I thought that this was dumb you can't send a flywheel for $8.10 everyone knows that well! except for the Post Office.

Neat next time I ship something heavy I know where to get cheap shipping for as long as it last anyway.
Walt

It says on the box flat rate at any weight. If it fits in the box it is $8.10. The best thing since sliced bread I say. If a flywheel will fit in, it will be $8.10. The postal worker may look at you funny or ask what the heck you have in it, but they will ship it with no problem. Just have them check to see what it would be without the flatrate box, it will give you a big smile on the way out. You can also order the boxes on line and have them sent directly to your house at a cost of $0.

Chris has the Flat Rate boxes, but she doesn't think they offer 1 to hold the DC Flywheel w/ Ring-gear. Do they??
