Today I received my November issue of Rod and Custom Magazine. On the cover the headline reads Backyard Budget Hot Rod and there is a photo of a Model A Ford coupe.

When I first glanced at that coupe, I thought that the grille looked awfully familiar. So I turned to the article and read it.

Sure enough! The grille is supposed to be that of a 1938 Case that the owner bought off e-Bay for $85. The grille looks a bunch like the grille on the old VAC I grew up with, but is probably from a somewhat larger model.

It sure looks good on the A-Bone hot rod! But I wonder if the old tractor hobby will start losing tin to the hot rodding group?

Sure was a good looking hot rod. I have seen several "rat rods" lately that use some form of tractor grille. I also saw an old sprint car several wks. ago with an Allis Chalmers grille. I go to the Greenfield Ia. Swap Meet every yr. to buy/sell some old hot rod and old race car stuff. I have an old Case SC nose in really bad shape that I think I'll throw on the trailer just for fun ! I love it when old Case and old hot rods/race cars come together. Life is good.
