I have a half dozen I have acquired over the last 4 years that I thought I had fixed. They are all to weak to fire the engine without missing on idle. I have put in a new coil & condenser and cleaned the points in a 41 mag. It is no better than the rest. Do they need to be remagnatized to give them the hot spark they have been known for all these years? I don't know what else I can do with them!!

A JMA 41 is not the same as a JMA 4 close but not the same. Are you setting the points at .010" cause thats where they have to be set to get HOT spark. longer there closed the more charge builds up. Do clean the rotor with an eraser, the carbon buildup on the rotor sends a little power to all the plugs. Hows the cap, you should be able to lay your hand on it while the tractor is running and not get bit, I've seen alot of them that leak. just some thoughts hth Klyde

You might look at this information:>Link

Somewhere>Link in there it mentions that if you take out the rotor you should recharge the magnets (image 5, page 3, I believe). Read through there; there"s a lot of good information on the Case magnetos in general. Might help with what you"re seeing.

One other thing is that a small amount of oil on the points can give you a lot of grief. Clean them with alcohol and check them with a meter if possible.

Hope this helps.
