Check the hydraulic fluid return hose for proper alignment. As silly as it sounds, at least on 430 tractors, there is a return hose that has a square block on the end that goes to the transmission. The bolt that goes through this block is drilled. If the horizontal hole in the bolt does not line up with the hole in the square block on the end of the hose, the lift will be very slow in both directions.

You check the rearend under the seat right behind the shifter cover, and the hyd is under the fuel tank on the right hand side on the hyd pump cover.

Thank You Wayne.
One more question!
There is a grinding sound from either the rearend or the tranny when I run at med to high idle while in gear.goes away when clutch is ingaged.I also put hydro fluid in the plug under seat. Will this hurt anything?
Thanks again

I have seen a lot 430 and 530 cases with Hyd fluid in the rear end,it will be ok, try to get some grease to your clutch release bearing.

sounds like you got a throwout bearing fixing to go out or at least dry...look for access around bellhousing...you may be able to grease it and get a few more hours.
