I just got an SC Case that has a hydraulic lift it kinda looks like a 2 point or lift for a mounted cultivator not like my eagle hitch 400 tractor. When I engage the pto it makes a noise likea bearing gauling coming from the pto or hydraulic pump drive, could it be low fluid or is it chain driven?the lift works and the pto turns its just real noisey.Should I tear it down and take my chances on getting parts? the tractor has new tires and rims and after I rewired it and did a tune up it starts great and doesnt smoke transmission seems smooth and shifts good serial# is 5424895 thanks Bob,,,

You need to check the fluid in both the transmission the PTO housing. I believe both level plugs are on the right side of the tractor at the rear. You could have a bad bearing on the main shaft that runs from the transmission. The main shaft connects to the PTO shaft via a sprocket chain.

Hey Bob: The pump is chain drive. If you haven't done so already, check the fluid level. They tend to be somewhat noisy on start-up, but within seconds they quiet down.
Good luck

Thanks !I am not so sure how to check the fluid level its alot different than my older SC without the hydraulics and it has that 1-2-3 lever that somehow controls the pto and hyd lift! Its Quiet at first then makes that really alarming noiseI"ll keep working on it and I think I will figure it out! Rolag will have alot of CASES THERE THIS YEAR AND i"M HOPING TO SEE some mounted cultivators and maybe get 1 for this tractor. Bob,,,
