Hello all, looking for your opinion on my case. I bought a 1958 Case 400 Case-o-matic. Got it home and tore the motor down. Two of the sleaves and pistons are in pretty bad shape. I would also need the valves and head worked on. Here"s my question. I was told the tractor ran when parked. The Transmission had no water in it and the oil looks good. It has really good tin and chrome and is all complete. If I spend the money fixing the motor and then find out the case-o-matic part is shot, can I get parts for it or will I be stuck with a good running, but non moving tractor. I"ve poked around and haven"t found much for parts for the TQ Converter and such. I personally think it worth the try, but I have a friend that says I should sell it for parts and find another to sink money into. What do you think?

Last we checked, parts were still available from Case for the Converters.

Nobel;
I wouldn"t listen to your friend. Go with your own feelings and fix the engine. Chances are the Case-O-Matic is fine.
Finding a tractor with good metal and such is getting harder to do... Gene
