A friend of mine has an 870 diesel power shift that has a broken crank. We haven't been able to find an 870 engine for it but have found a diesel engine from an 830. Does anyone know if the 830 engine is the same bolt pattern on both the front and rear of the engine? IF it is, what issues will be encountered with the starter since I believe the 870 uses a starter that is sealed to keep the oil out of the field/armature area? What about the flywheel differences?
Thank you for any help?
John

JK2, I have had good luck in finding Case parts out of a salvage yard in Evansville, WI. Phone number of 1-800-525-7278. Sorry I can't remember the name. I called a few weeks back and a crank shaft for a 930 Case was $1,000.

Check Const. salvage yards. A 680/780 ldr backhoe should be the same, also an 880 escavator. Schaeffer Ent. (618) 833-5498

You might want to see if you could find one from a 770. That would match.
