Case-O-Matic Type A trans fluid

It calls for Type A trans fluid in my 630 Case-o-Matic, when I asked the guy at the auto parts store he did not know what I was looking for. Is there an updated fluid to use in the Case-O-Matics. Also, it calls for the unit to running and warm, so where is a good place to fill torque tube when running, timing hole?

I use the farm store Universal Trans/Hyd fluid in my 630. Keep in mind that the Case-O-Matic fluid is also used for the external hydraulics. If you use this tractor and other tractors on equipment such as a wagon hoist or disk, the fluids end up all mixed together from one tractor to the other. That's why I use the universal fluid in everything.

Type 'A' automatic transmission fluid is an older designation, used in pre-'65 GM cars and some other makes. You would be fine to use Dexron or Dexron III, which are an improved fluid, for your Case-O-Matic. I used Dexron III in my 730 COM the last time I changed fluid and filter. You would also be fine using Case/IH TCH fluid for the system.
