I HAVE A CASE 430 DEISEL I RAN IT OUT OF FUEL THEN FILLED IT AND IT DID NOT WANT TO START. ANY IDEAS OF WHAT IT COULD BE. THANKS.

When I ran into this on my 830, I was way out in the field, and it was a pain to refill it (would have had to carry 30 gallons out there). So I filled the gas tank about halfway, and used a brake bleeder hand vacuum pump to suck the air out of the bleeder screw holes in the filter housings. It worked, but it was a pain.

Doesn't the 430 have a 3-stage filter just like the bigger ones? A single stage automotive filter would be nowhere near good enough, radically shortening the life of the injector pump and injectors. That's real important to fix.

You might want to check and see what the fuel level in the tank is after adding fuel. With the tank completely empty, it takes more than 10 gallons of fuel to get the level above the top of the filters. You have to have the fuel above the top of the filters to ever get all the air out of the filter housing. I ran into this last year on my 430.

i still can not get fuel to past pump, it is missing entire fuel filter assembly and has some little car filter. is there a bleeder on the fuel pump. i put about four gallons in it, i will try to fill more to see if it helps. thanks, i am looking for a fuel assembly now.

I sure hope that you replaced that car filter before starting it again. also check to see if any of the filter a migrated to the pump. It will show on the filter if it has been eaten away by the diesel.

thanks for all your help, it does not have the proper fuel filter it looks like some one replaced it with a car filter. i will try bleeding it through the injectors and see if that does it. thanks again.

If you haven't been thru this before, here's the procedure: don't crank it until there is fuel in the tank, fuel valve is open, ALL the air is bled (by means of the bleeder screws) out of the filter assy(s), then the injector pump. Next, loosen the nuts holding the injector lines to the injectors, make sure the fuel shutoff knob is pushed in (so the injector pump can pump the fuel), open the throttle lever all the way (so the pump can pump the maximum amount of air out with each stroke). Make sure the transmission is in neutral and set the parking brakes. Once you've taken all necessary safety precautions, crank the engine over 15 seconds at a time with one minute of cooldown time in between for the starter (or whatever your manual says) until only fuel (no air) is coming from at least one of the fuel lines. As soon as each/all flow(s) fuel, snug the nut(s) down and crank engine. When it starts, throttle down to normal speed.

(mowr) has covered it all, except it's NOT necessary to crack the injection lines at the injectors to bleed them. Unlike a number of other injection pumps, the Roosa-Master will self-bleed those lines. Leave the hood on and follow the rest of (mowr's) advice.

Try bleeding out the fuel filter or the fuel bowl buy the filter,then try cracking some fuel lines on the pump.Some times there is a bleeder on the pump.Try one at a time,it should bleed out,but make sure there is fuel in the filter first.
