Any thoughts on the similarity between these two reds? Are they the same shade of red?

I always wondered about them 2 colors. Why would Case paint their tractors orange, then call them red? Are they trying to fool me? It would be like having a nice, orange apple. Doesn't make sense. Actually, Flambeau Red has more flame in it than the other, and Power Red has a stronger color. I knew a guy in North Central Alberta who painted his Case VA black. He said it was called Midnight Black, but I always said it was Noonhour Black. Help, I'm totally wiped out on this one.

I like the Flambeau Red better than the Power Red.

Could never figure either one of them colors out. Cases are painted orange and yet they call it red. It would be like having a red apple and saying it was colored orange. Now that would be almost as confusing. They should have called them Flambeau Orange, or perhaps Power Orange. How about Fire Engine Orange? That would be really confusing. I think that Flambeau Red has more flambeau in it and that Power Red is more powerful. Hope this helps you out. I knew a guy once near a place in North Central Alberta who painted a Case VA black. Now, he called it Midnight Black, but he should have called it Noontime Black. See ya.

Flambeau Red: Dupont 016DH, Napa 99L 3727, PPG 7128, Ditzler 71282. This red has more orange than power red.

These are two different colors. Case used the Flambeau red from about 1939 on up through the two-tones such as the 430s-930s, where it was used on the cast iron. At some point, with the 70 series, or perhaps latter, they went to the Power Red and a lighter, almost white, on the sheet metal. But they are two distinctly different colors and you don't want a Flambeau to be Power Red if you're trying for a correct restoration.
