purchased a 1030 comfort king. After trying out this tractor it has two problems. One the batteries wont stay charged even after putting new ones in. They last maybe two days and then are dead. The other problem is it is leaking black oil comming down from the exhaust manifold or the big bolts behind the manifold. Not a steady run but drips when working the tractor very hard.

What should I do about this?????

The Oil is most likly leaking from the valve covers or the oil return line going to the covers

Hey Craig: Does your 1030 have an Alt. or Gen. on it? An Alt. with a bad internal regulator will drain the batteries. Could be an injector problem, or blow by causing the oil.

With the key & engine off, take the Batt. wire off the Alt. & lightly touch it back & look for a spark. If you get a spark, the Alt. is the culprit.

I got a 1030 and have had charging problems,cant remember what I did but am planning on putting a alt. on and taking off generator. My guess is the injectors need attention. Sorry cant be more help. My 1030 is great, it has 1200 orignal hours all orignal.
