I have a chance to buy a 1965 730 Case with a loader was wondering about the Case-o-matic transmission. What problems I could expect if any and how reliable they are. Have had several other Case tractors but never one of these. Thanks for any help Jim

The case-o-matic is a good transmission once you get used to it. You will hate it at first, but will love it once you get used to it. I had a 730 and have a 611B both with case-o-matics. You have to start from a stop and switch gears at an idle. If you don't they will have a tendency to grind the gears. Mine have never given me any trouble and all I have done to them is change the filters and hydraulic oil. I have heard that if you ever need to rebuild a case-o-matic that parts are hard to find, but I've never had mine apart. They work great on a loader tractor.
