I'm thinking of building a DC puller and have a few questions. Most of these have been answered a while back in the forum but I didn't pay attention. I have got 4 1/16 domed pistons and 5505A head, how much horsepower would it put out? How much would it increase by adding an LP head? Why do they put in D sprockets in the rear? Can speed be made up with tire size changes? Can it get down to 4000 lbs? I know I need to get a hold of the rules for some of the pulling tracks around here. I thought this would be a good place to start. I can't afford block machining and alterations so bore and stroke will limited. Thanks in advance.

The reason people put a DO rear end gears in the DC"s is for clubs with speed limits. With our club the speed limit it 3.8 and in first gear is not fast enough and second you can"t wind it up with out blowing the speed limit horn. Our DC runs 3.4 mph in first gear with 15.5-38

M&W domes and 5505 will dyno mid 50's, A DC won't dyno true hp due to the pto gear ratio, lp head a little more,CC, DC sprockets 38T, C sprockets 31T( some C's have 38T), CI's have 26T, if they stick out beyond the rear cover surface they are 38T, 31T will make a 4mph low gear to play the throttle game. I would spend the money to put in a Berry Cam and clean up the ports in the head. I pulled one like this till I built my new one. Took the old DC out on the 4th and won 5000# 3rd in 5500# and won 6500#! 4000# will be a little tight with a batt. ect.
