VAC Eagle Hitch

I have what I think is a 43 or 44 VAC. Serial # tag is gone but I have routed through parts manual and figure this is the vintage. It has the older high pressure pump off of the pulley housing for an implement lift, but no low pressure pump at the Mag position of the accessory case. Has anyone any experience about trying to find an Eagle hitch (or even after market one) and retrofitting. This one runs wonderfully - very recent sleeves and whatever they did for an overhaul before I bought it. I am cleaning it up and applying some tlc but "restoring" to "show quality" is beyond my current intent. I have straightened out some metal, filled some holes, and will apply some paint but plan to compromise on feather edging and prep needed for what I think would be needed for "show quality". It also has an alternator and 12volt conversion which I don't plan to undo. I have a pull along bush hog which is all I really need it for but if I could get a 3 pt who knows what I would do.

Appreciate any advise from anyone who has gone here before.

It is my understanding the later VA tractors which came with the Eagle hitch had a different rear end casting, with a flat area on top and four tapped holes for the Eagle rockshaft assembly to bolt to. I am in the process of buying an Eagle hitch for my 1948 VAO. The seller says he has an adapter plate so the rockshaft will mount on my older tractor. I haven't seen the plate, so I can't tell you how this works. I'll send you details when I see it. I also don't know if your belt housing pump is big enough to run the Eagle piston. Maybe someone else in this group knows?

I'm not sure about the 3 pt.. But I know you better be careful with the pto. That is the one weak link of the VA models. If you ever hit anything like a stump or rock with the mower you could break the gears in the pto.

I've been told that too by a used tractor dealer/restorer. But he did say he had replacement gears much stronger than the original.

Not having any experience beyond a couple of VA types I have I can tell you this: The 3pt lift on my VAS is apparently bolt-on. The pump is bolted to the old mag mount and piping is routed to the 3pt lift which is bolted on at four places. If your tractor has the four bolt holes behind the seat and has the pump mounting, you should be able to install a used 3pt outfit. If I am wrong, I hope it will be pointed out.

My dad has a 1948 model VAC with the hydraulic pump mounted at the belt pulley. He used part of the lift mechanism for the rear cultivators to make a 3 point hitch for it. The hydraulic piston mounted on the left side of the tractor does the lifting. It is not a live hydraulic system, however.
