Case CD - Need Serious Advice

We bought a 1941 DC from a guy that flat-out lied to us. He was a mechanic that sold us this tractor after rebuilding the magnito, new tires, sleeves, rings, etc. He told us he just ran out of time and didn't think he'd get back into it. It turns out he found he had a cracked block. So, my question is, what do we do now? Do we look for a new block or part the thing out? Are there many good blocks out there?

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I was hoping that this was a post about a CD! I have several good DC blocks that I would make you a really good deal on. I am in Eastern SD though. I will be going through Denver to my sons wedding in Paonia next week but we will be driving the car and the block would be quite a load in the trunk. DK

I would be interested in talking to you if you have some good blocks. Would you mind emailing me at [email protected] or calling me at 303-570-9615?

Thanks.

-Brandon

I'm in the Denver, CO area. Where are these salvage yards? Would you mind sending me some contact info for them? I hate to give up on it because the rest of it is in decent shape.

Where is it cracked? Some blocks crack between the sleeves, and this is usually not a problem unless it goes all the way down. You can weld outside crackes with nickle rod also.

This is cracked between the pistons and the area where the oil is. There are two cracks that we can see and the worst in about 1/4" wide. We haven't pulled the sleeves yet so we're not sure if it's cracked there, too.

If he new about the cracks and did not tell you about them even if he sold it as/is he is still rsponsable for the loss to you I would take him to court. Teach him to be a little more honest the next time. Walt If all of the rest of the tractor is in good shape you might be able to find a good block by just looking foe a parts tractor.
