We recently bought a 930CK desiel. We aren't new to the 930s, but this ones a little different. It smokes blue smoke while working it. We did put in a head gasket after we bought it. Could we have missed something? We worked it for about 20 hours on the feed mill and round baler and it used about a quart of oil. We do know the engine had a major over haul in the mid 80s. Right know were checking to make sure there are no obtruction in the air breather, but I keep reading about these o-rings on the head. I don't remember seeing these. Where are they and could they be the problem. Thanks in advance.

Most oil consumption is either around the rings or through the valve stems.

If you are otherwise happy with the way your 930 runs, I don"t think I would worry about a quart every 20 hours. You can buy a lot of oil before you spend as much as you probably will for the cost of repairs.

But if you like to work on engines that"s a whole "nother story.

The seals look like rubber washers
and I think they are to seal the water side of the head. Blue somke is oil or fuel. White smoke is water. Worn sleeves could cause this smoke.
Good Luck
