HD 11B Dozer with Dry Clutch problem

I got into some water recntly and now the left steering clutch will not release. I have two fears, either the clutches have rusted together or possible the fiber clutch plates have soaked up water and swelled and now have no room to expand therefore nor releasing. The brake works fine in fact I can pull the clutch lever and press the brake and almost kill the engine so that tells me the clutch is not releasing. Does anyone have any advice for a quick fix?

Joe, I had someone else tell me about the diesel fuel trick but was concerned about the clutch fibers soaking it up and slipping as well. I also had someone tell me they thought that maybe the problem was that the fiber clutch plates had already soaked up with the water and had swelled taking up what slack there was between them and that in was the problem. That sort of spooked me that I might make the problem worse by adding more liquid to the clutch plates. What do you think? Obvisouly you said the diesel worked for you.

If you have fiber disc the fuel will damage them and you need to pull out anyway before having more damage.

Hey i just weny though the same problem with my D14, try putting about 4 or 5 gallons of diesel in the clutch cavity through the top adjustment cover,let it soak for awhile, oh you have to plug the drain hole at the bottom of that case, then drive it around for awhile pulling on that lever and useing alittle brake it should start working, then drain the fuel and the more you use it the better it will work,because the fuel has to dry off the brake band, anyway it worked for me?.

Maybe you have the stering cluch throwout bearing freese on bevel shaft and can't slide for desangaging.
