Are the rear rims on an Allis supposed to be silver or orange? I have seen several pictures of each, orange or orange and silver.

the CA is not white, it is galvanized (silver). Most think DickL is about right. Early in production B model (38-1940) the rims were probably painted orange. By the time the C came up in 1940 they were using galvanized rims , and possibly still painted. An exact date is unknown. maybe they had both. by the mid 1940s there were galvanized rims (rear) on the orange cast hubs. That lasted thru the CA model till the D series tractors in 1959. D still had galvanized rears, but front were changed from orange to cream.

All the rear rims on my C are silver in color. Now if thats right I can't say but all the Cs I had are 1946s. 2 of them are good running tractors and 2 of them are parts tractors

I have never seen a 1941 with galvanized rims. You get into opinions and some are under the opinion that all had galvanized rear wheels. The first tractors that I saw new with galvanized rims were in 1950. That being said I am under the opinion you should paint them to your liking. I have painted all of my Allis Chalmers tractor rims of that vintage orange. I may paint the next one blue just to be different. (:^D

My opinion is that they started painting the wheels cream/white with the D series. (:^D

Sort of- the first D17 and D14 tractors were orange centers on the rear with silver rims. Fronts were all orange. Later ones had cream centers
