I bought an allis chalmers tractor but am not sure what model and year. How can I identify the model and year of the tractor?

Email some others that posted some pictures. It looks like a 55 WD45 to me.

Email me the complete serial number aand I try to match it to a year and model.Send a picture or two in the email if you can.

Look at the top of the transmission or from he back of he tractor look to the back left side of the transmission and see if you can find the serial number.

Well post what you find. For instance if it says B????? then its model B if it has a C first then a C etc etc. Most of them start with what model it is then the number which if you look in the left under research&info then serial number you can find the year but you need the model first. It also helps if you tell us more about it as in wide front, or trike. What it sort of looks like etc. Also look in the tractor photos and see if you see one that looks like what you have. We can only help you if you help us by giving us as much info as you can and of course a pictures goes a long ways

The numbers on the trans case are: 200931 with E-10-A1 just below. It has a wide front and sort of looks like the W series from the fifties. How do I post photos?

Bill, it's hard to tell if you have a serial number there. One of them certainly seems to be a casting number. The other wouldn't be from a WD or WD45 if you found it on the transmission.

Have a look at the link and let us know which location you found the number in.

As far a posting a picture, the easiest way is to look to the left of this page where it says Galleries. Click on Tractor Photos and follow the instructions for Add Your Photo, and then let others know that you have posted it through this thread. Of course, you have to have a picture of the tractor on your computer filed in a location where you can find it.

If it looks like a WD or WC or WD45 look on the left hand rear axle houseing just under the brake cover. Theres a flat spot there on most that will have the numbers you need. As far as posting pictures go to help ID. and post one there then just check back tomorrow and I'm sure some one will tell you what it is
