I would like to add an inline heater to my D17D. Which loop is the best to install this into? I have an early series diesel... Thanks

My setup never heated up the radiator! I may have mis-stated which line I hooked up to, as it has been a few years since I made the hookup. Best advice is to follow the instructions that come with the heater unit!

If you do as DIYDAve does you tun thr risk of the heated water circulating through the radiator. The heated water may open the thermostat. On Dad's 190 we ran the inlet to the heater from the block drain and the outlet of the heater went to a hole we tapped into the lower radiator hole connection on the water pump.

If it's the same motor as is used in a D-19, what I did was to put a coffee pot heater on the right side of the motor, from the block drain port, and tee into the thermostat bypass line at the top of the motor.
