I am restoring a 1942 Allis Chalmers B. How do I tell if my cooling system is pressurized or not. I can't find any info on what year pressurized systems began to be used.

I don't use a pressure cap on any of my ACs, thermostat or not. A tired old radiator will last a whole lot longer if not pessurized. I cut the seal pad of the cap so it can't build pressure. I have not noticed any problem useing the tractors with out a pressurized cap in 30 years. And I have a couple of very tired radiators.

Don't know for sure, but my '39 B has a different cap (more like the gas cap)while my 49 has a regular pressurized radiator cap. They aren't interchangeable.

Some one may corect my memory but I thought there was a post a litel wile back about this and there was something with the termastat housing that was diferant I think there was not one on the non presher system it just had an elbo in there insted or something like that but I am not for sher
