I am looking for the top ground speed of an Alice Chalmers WD45 4500lb tractor for a project. Can anyone help me determine the top speed in low gear at full rpm's? Thanks.

You don't say why the actual speed is important. There are too many variables to be able to predict it. Tire size is the big one but tire inflation makes a difference as well as does tire wear. If you want to know precisely, buy a small GPS unit. They are pretty handy for cars and tractors.

Bill-Utah has the best advice. Any decent GPS receiver will be accurate within 1/10th MPH steady state. Just make sure it's set up for statute miles per hour and not nautical mph (knots) or kilometers per hour. Easy to select on most.

Use a GPS to measure your speed, it will be the most acurate you will get.

Paul's numbers are straight from the book, with standard size tires. Factory option of 13x28 will be slightly faster.

Run for 60 seconds measure distance traveled and do the math, distance times 60 divide by 5280 will tell how fast

Don't know about an "Alice" Chalmers, but an Allis-Chalmers WD-45 will go about 12-14mph if everything is in stock configuration & tune. A D-17 or 175 governor spring would speed things up a little. Kip

Have someone "travel clock" you in an automotive vehicle.
