CA PTO question

I have a 53 CA that runs like a charm except the PTO/3-pt will not run. I can free hand turn the PTO then when I engage it, it doesn't run. I peeked in it (slid the PTO over) and all was turning by hand. Before I remove the PTO/3-pt from the rear housing, what do I need to do and what am I looking for? Thanks!

Hey, I was wrong! the Pto on the CA is same as B and C. An output shaft from the tranny drives the hyd, pto, beltpulley. It has a gear that messes with the tranny gear and a half-moon key that keeps shaft turning with gear. This shaft has the lobes for your hyd. pump so that is why you have no two-pt or no pto. I suspect the key is sheared or your gear has slipped. Looks like the housing has to come off to repair.

I think your CA is similar in many respects to our WD. Our WD has a 1/2" grade 5 bolt that pins the PTO shaft to the Output shaft of the PTO 'box'. I sheared that bolt bushhoggin' the other day (think it just came loose and fell out actually). I have my owners manuel at home, it covers the CA in it, I will look and get back to you tomorrow.
