I put new timken and seal in ac-c narrow front ped. steering set bearing to tight. Anyone know proper setup for duel front pedistol. Also I put good ross steering box in It is smooth but to tight. Thanks. DS Mi.

There are shims at the top of spindle to the gear. Adjust till it just has the up and down movement out, but turns all the way around freely. Then sort out the two gear clearance in the top of the pedistal to give minimum free play on steering arm with no bind.
When adjusting steering box on top of torque tube, make sure the steering wheel turns freely all the way right and left before hooking back up to drag link.
These steering boxes tend to wear most near the straight ahead position and little to the sides. If you get the slack out of the middle, it may lock up at turns.

If you do not have additional shims, you might get by, making a gasket out of gasket material. It probably won't take much.

jack the front end up an inch off the ground. disconnect the steering arm back to the gear box. turn the front tires by hand- side to side. if it is tight, loosen the bolts 1 turn and try again. if that works, you drop the pedistol by removing the 4 bolts that hold it to the tractor. are there shims (steel or paper) between the two halfs?? add shims to get more clearance.----- -- the Ross steering box has a set screw and lock nut opposite the output arm. loosen the screw 1/2 turn and try again.. check the Ross box seperate before you reinstall the long steering rod.
