Hey Denny!

I just relocated to the DFW area from Central IL (still trying to get used to you fine Texans pronouncing the 's' at the end of Illinois!) and was looking for a good source for tractor and farm equip. Back in IL we had the Tradin' Post magazine and it carried lots of farm stuff for sale. Anything like that here? Is the Dallas paper about the best source? Just always keeping my eye open for anything interesting for sale (and am in the market for some used hay baling equip to use with my D17).

Thanks and appreciate the help!

Chad, there is an AGCO Allis dealer in Temple which I have used a lot. Reasonable prices on most items. And there is one in Hillsburo which is southwest of Dallas on I35. Never used them as Temple is closer. I had a list at one time of all the AGCO Allis dealers in Texas. I think there were 25 of them.

Chad, I buy most of my parts from Don Livingston at "Rusty Acre". Don's business is in Austin, MN. (507-433-0073). The rest I get on this site, EBAY or through the YTMAG boards. And, when I can, I go to the dealer - AGCO usually. So where I am doesn't make much difference. There are a couple of local tractor yards - one in Taylor and another in Cranfills Gap but I've only used them a handfull of times. Don't know of any periodical that covers farm stuff worth a hoot.

Regarding the pronunciation of the "s", I don't think that is a Texas thing. We generally drop letters when ever it is convenient or makes it easier to pronouce. Manchaca is pronounced "manshack" and Goldthwaite is Goalwait just give a couple of examples.

A little local humor is that a guy was quoted as saying "No, I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as soon as I could!"

Welcome!

Been looking for a baler for a friend of mine. They are out there if you have the cash.

I thought I would butt in on this one.
First thing, If you are in Dallas, you probably are not talking to a Texan. I don't know anyone who pronounces the s.
Pick up an Equipment Trader, Tractor Swapper or Tractor House. TNT Tractor in Sunnyvale has quite a few tractors among others.

Joe - My Polish relatives from Wisconsin (and we think Texans have an accent!) always pronounce the 's' when they say Illinois, so to hear it pronounced that way down here with that TX twang has been fun!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look for those magazines.
