How do I find the timing mark on a 1953 WD45? Where is this square hole and I need more than on the bottom.

Bottom of the bell housing. Timing marks are located on the back of the flywheel.

I never use the timing marks as this mark won't tell you if you are on the exhaust or compression stroke. I find where the compression stroke is on #1 cylinder and turn the crank until it is at top dead center of the compression stroke. I then install the distributor so that the rotor is pointing to #1 (about 10:30 position when looking at top of the distributor) and the points are just about to open. Then start engine and adjust the distributor for maximum rpm.
