WC or WD ??

As a new owner of what i believe to be an Allis-Chalmers WD, at least that is what the decal on the side of the hood indicates. When I look through the forum pages I see WC< WD< and WD45 tractors referred to. There is a tractor profile for the WD45, and I understand what this tractor is. I can't seem to locatate anything that tells the difference between the WC and WD.Is it just the time frame of their manufacturer?

The WC has a serial or "Tractor number" stamped on the back of the differential. It would begin with WC ########. Hope this helps. RC

An AC WC has no hydraulic system, no hand clutch, no live power or live hydraulics, and a separate non syncro. transmission and a separate differential similar to a truck differental. The WC has a long gear shift lever with a small reverse lock out lever and hand operated brakes (unless it is fitted with an accessory adapter for foot operated brakes). There are other differences if it is an early or late production WC. Hope this helps, bentorbroke
