After you fix the problem you should be able to obtain from AC or Agco a coolant conditioner kit that will help with this problem it is definitely not a new problem but seemed to occur with turbocharged tractors due to piston travel speeds or feet per minute causing a static electrolisys that eats away at metal surfaces the conditioner has something to do with removing ion charges in the coolant I'm not schooled in chemistry but as was mentioned the new coolants may have inhibitors.

Best way is to send the block to a machine shop to install sleeves where the o-rings seal. Yes I have used J-B weld and also liquid steel and both seemed to work. That was in the early 90's and I don't know if they are still going cause I haven't worked out of that shop since 1995. After you get it fixed make sure you use antifreeze designed for diesels and change it every couple years. I use Fleetguard.

Had the same problem in early 90's in XT 190, used liquid metal and is still going. Only on light duties though.
