Well tomarrow we try the startup on the 39 B,you said it was a chain start. LOL. And how right you are As stiff as it is it sure isn't going to be hand crank, now hope for oil pressure. Complete Oh kit from YT on engine. This puppy sat out side for over 40 years and everything was stuck.
Still don't think that is the correct hood, to many holes, did they have a B with right a hand air breather as there is a hole on that side with the 3 1/2" holes for the air stack bracing?

Thanks for the info guys, yep looks just like Dick's hood without the fuel tank. Well got her started even with no one to pull on the chain, hope the pic comes out. Run it without spark plugs till oil pressure came up after pumping lines full of oil. One problem is no throttle or gov control, mag drive works back in till it barely catches the lugs, am I missing a washer between the case and weights? can pull the drive in and out over 1/4" and then also oil pours out the bottom of the mag to case flange.

One time to keep the magneto drive from moving forward I measured the distance that the drive moved, cut a piece of copper rod that amount and fit it in the bottom of the bushing in the governor cover. I filed it to where I had about .005 forward movement.

Thanks for the tip Dick in reply to Dick L, 11-02-2007 09:24:46
Dick I'll do just that, other wise it's up to the soft plug to hold it forward and that is kinda asking a lot out of it.
The shaft came all the way out flush with the case and left no room for the soft plug and then the mag drive couldn't hook up very well either.
Thanks again,
Bob

b125 power units have the extra hole in the hood for the gas fill. but it will be in the center in the rear, not on the side.
the 3 small holes for the breather extension support bracket are usually on the left side.

You should try and pump some engine oil through
the oil gallery so everything is well lubed during the initial startup. Hal

I think it's probably a hood from a B-125 power unit, but smarter folks than me can confirm this.

Hi all I was thinking that maybe the hood was for the gas tank for dual fuel? I am not sure where the gas tank was mounted.
