I have a D-14 that likes to hesitate while going up hill and sometimes on the level, Other times I have no problem at all.. I can keep the 14 going if I pull out the choke sometimes all the way other times it is a matter of constant playing with choke and other times it will die no matter what, it will always start back up without a problem. I have rebuilt the carb to no effect. I"m always sure I have 3/4 tank of gas. Any help out there? Carl

years ago I picked up a `wc` at a auction that had a note on the hood that said (runs good for short time)the gas would run a good large stream, I did a lot of things to it but the thing I found was a flake of paint in the sedimt valve, the gas would run ok till you ran the motor then it shut off, that sort of things that make tractors interesting,,,,life is good

Just had that problem a few hours ago on my D-17. Pulled the sediment bowl out of the gas tank and the inlet hole was plugged.

I agree with Gatz. I had a similiar problem with my 2-cyl mower and ran it for a year with choke partially out, finally pulled carburator and found debris. after cleaning it ran fine without choke.

Probably something in the gas tank or line.
Disonnect line to carb and run a hose to a bucket to see if flow is constant or intermittant.

Could be rust, debris, parts of gage float.
