I suspect the final drive covers need to be removed and filled with oil from previous postings, is making a new gasket difficult? How and where to buy gasket materials in a nut shell?

There are a few different thicknesses of gasket material available in most Auto Parts stores. In some cases, once you get the final drive cover off and cleaned up, if the original gasket comes off in one piece, and easy trace job on a new piece of gasket paper is all thats needed to make a new one. If the original came off in pieces, just trace around the cover and cut the center out. Viola! New gaaket...

You'll be amazed at what you find in a final drive pan. When I did mine, I used form-a-gasket in a tube. You can get that and gasket material at any auto parts store...
