D-15 hydraulics again

I did not receive any replies when I posted about a week ago. I have a D-15 Series I tractor. The lift will raise to the top position when the tractor is cranked but will not go down. The tractor has a remote outlet also. My manual has some information about the lift locked in the up position when the remote is in operation but I can't make sense of it. Both the lever on the left side of the dash are in the lower position and when moved don't seem to have any effect on the lift or the remote. The manual also states that the screw down by the foot clutch (under the gas tank) can be turned to adjust the hydraulics but I cannot get it to turn. Is this problem beyond my limited ability or is there some things I can try to get the lift to lower? thanks

Jerry, the first think you need to do is to check the linkage and set it up exactly as they say in the manual. I have had similar problems on my WD tractors and resolved them by adjusting the linkage. I also have taken apart the valves on WD's for cleaning and inspection. But I have never been in the valving on either my D-14 or D-17. I've also not worked on the pumps of either WD's or D series.

Your problem certainly seems like a valving issue and may be just linkage adjustment. First check to be certain that the link arms are straight or if bent, they are per the manual. I have the linkage adjustment instructions for this from the Allis Operating Instructions and from the IT manual for the D-17 and the D-14. I believe these are very similar to the D-15 Series I. I also have the complete Allis parts manual for the D-17. I can send you copies of some of this if you send me an email.
