D14 Clutch stuck

I recently purchased a D14 not running, and the clutch was stuck in the disengaged position. I finally had time to work on the tractor, and this is what I did.

1) pulled the tractor down the road with the transmission in gear, and the clutch still in the disengaged position. The engine actually turned over with the torque converter engaged. Didnt want to break anything, so we stopped.

2) Removed the spark plugs, and jacked up the rear tire, put the tractor in gear, expecting the engine to turn, but did not look like engine turned.

3) Stopped, and replaced plugs, transmission out of gear, wheel turned freely.

4) looked in the inspection hole, and found what looks like mouse nest. (should have done this first).

So, my question is if I am fairly confident that there is a mouse debris in the clutch assembly, what should I do? I have written before, and some say spray out with pressure sprayer and detergent, others say split tractor, replace clutch.

My first thought is to high pressure spray the clutch assembly because it is the cheapest, if that dosent work, split the tractor.

Also, the tractor has what looks loke a 12 volt alternator, so I think it has been converted to 12 volt, but is it positive or negative ground?

Thanks in advance.

I think your plan is valid, although I bet you end up splitting the tractor. 12 volt conversions are usually neg ground.
