I was looking for a loader tractor when I came across a guy that has a D10 series 2? backhoe and loader, its ugly, yellow, lots of primer over most of the paint, does not have spinout rear rims, has front weights. Is this a D10 or did Allis have another name for this unit... I think it may be an industrial tractor, but it did have the allis name plates on the side of the hood and a D10 sticker on it. It seems to run very good, plenty of power for its size, but the hydrolics leak a lot everywhere, can the hydrolic cylinders be tightened up or something or do they need to be removed and repaired. It has a lot of slop in the steering, is there a way to tighten that up? I have never owned a D series tractor... I have Bs, C, WCs, WD, and dad has a 190xt. The guy wants 2000 bucks for it, is that a good deal? Any advice, suggestions, or recomendations. I told him I would take it, but the deal isn't final yet.
Thanks!
Rob

I don"t know much about the I series but I vaguely remember an AC block man telling me if it has a shuttle it won"t have a pto is this true or not? Just curious the only reason I ask is that I took a D-15 or as you call it I-60 or 600 with a loader someone used for barnlot cleaning and after he sold his cows he traded it for a lawn tractor and everyone kept asking why it didn"t have a pto or 3pth. The 3pth was easy to explain because a lot of backhoe tractors just bolted them to the axle frame. It did have a heavy non adjustable front axle and a crankshaft hyd pump that I think could flatten the tires before it stalled we even thought if we had the money to keep it ourselves to unload machinery.

Allis put a heavier front end (non adjustable), power steering, and a heavy grille housing on the D10 and called it an I-40. It was available with a backhoe, loader, 3pt, pto, and shuttle clutch. It later became the I-400.

Well now that is a surprise. I would think the D-10 would be too small to be much of a backhoe. I thought they used a D-15.
