Can anyone give any advice on how to take apart the older bushing style pump to repace the seal. My IT says to press the fan hub off the shaft but I cant get it to move. HELP

I had the same problem. Have a '39 WC and a '38 WC for parts. Couldn't get the '39 pump apart and had all new parts on hand. So Napa sent the '38 pump in for rebuild and got back a fine pump. Cost around $50. Then I still have the '39 pump soaking in diesel oli (several months) and will again try to rebuild. We'll see.

In the parts manual it looks like it does indeed press off. You have to remember that hub was pressed on the shaft 50 or 60 years ago and is probably stuck pretty tight by now. I would try soaking it in a penetrating fluid of your choice for a few days and then using an arbor press to get it off. It will more than likely take a lot of pressure to get it moving. Some times a little heat doesn't hurt either.
