Tractor is split. s/n 4634. Have OEM Service Manual. Manual states to reassemble (3) splined clutch plates in the rear of hi section and (4) splined clutch plates in front or lo range section. Also states release springs are different lengths between lo and hi ranges. Initial shim packs are 0.085" and 0.035" for center for total of 0.205". This PD has (3) splined clutch disks in both lo and hi, not (3 and (4). Release springs are same length, not different. After moving shims around, unable to get 0.042" average difference between engaged and disengaged. No snap into lo or hi yet. Are there different shim dimensions for this possibly early PD? Is there an earlier shop manual? Thank-you

According to an original parts book, there is no serial number breaks on the D-15 power director, so no early/late model.

The book only shows 3 plates on each side and all springs are the same part number, therefore the same length.

Your clutch is correct, the OEM manual is wrong. It appears the manual is referring to a D-17 power director.

I don't have dimensions for adjusting the shim packs, maybe someone else does and can supply the info.
