Hey guys I have a 52 WD and was wondering how much the three point should lift.I bought some round silage bails last year for the deer, used a bail spear that I bought and it won't lift them.I asked the guy how much they weighed and told me about 1100 to 1200 pounds. It never entered my mind to ck into this until it didn't werk.
Thanks in advance
Dave

I bought a three point adapter for my WD and put a bale carrier on it. It would lift but made the front end light. I found a bale carrier made to snap coupler specs. It sets closer to the tractor and did a much better job of hauling bales.

If the pump is good, the hydraulics will lift the front end of the tractor off the ground. How much weight it takes to do that depends on how far back that weight is. If you stab a bale and can`t lift either the bale or the front end of the tractor off the ground, then your pump could use some work. If you stab a bale and the bale stays on the ground but the front of the tractor comes off, then you need to either get more weight on the front of the tractor or get the bale closer to the back wheels of the tractor, or both. I`m sure there comes a point where you can over load even a good pump, but that might be about the same point that the lift arms won`t take the load either.

When I tried to move round bales with my WD it didn't work that great. I could raise them up enough to scoot them around and that was about it. I do know however that my pump is not making full pressure. I stops somewhere around 2800 psi and it should be more like 3500. I think my pressure check spring is a little weak. The other thing is that your front end will be pretty light with that much weight on the back.
