The drawbar pull is monitered with a spring and lever, and when the drawbar slacks, and the tires are still spinning, weight is transfered from the (mounted) implement to the tractor by raising the lift arms. Usually this happens, and traction is restored (by the added weight from the draft) fast enough that you cannot see the difference in the plow depth. This, of course, depends greatly upon everything being in proper adjustment.

This "gadget" allows the wd & wd45 perform like a much larger & heavier tractor. It is nothing like the posteriorily challenged setup on a ferd. They only have draft control to keep the hitch even with the oven, so you can easily pull the pies out without damage.
