engine starts and runs good till temp gets to about 195 then shuts down. will restart but wont keep running. have cleaned carb put in new needel valve and seat and checked float level. any ideas would be helpful.

When the engine quits running pull the coil wire from the cap asap and check for fire from the coil wire. The coil may be weak. Hal

I'm leaning towards ignition/spark stuff. Usually, if a motor gets warm and then shuts down, it's related to electrical (coil or condenser) failing when they get hot. Swap out the condenser first (cause it's cheap), and then the coil. If that don't fix it, come back and let us know. The other rare, but possible thing is if the fuel line has been re-run such that it passes by something really hot. Gas can begin to vaporize inside the fuel line and create a blockage to fuel flow...

The two things that usually cause a tractor to stop is lack of fuel and lack of spark. First verify that you are getting strong flow to the carburetor. It is extremely typical that something is stopping the flow of fuel either in the tank, setting bowl or lines. You may have to let it drain a couple of minutes with a fast flow to insure there is no obstruction.

I have never experienced this myself, but I have been told that the condenser goes bad and refuses to function at operating temperature. So, if you have good fuel flow, you could try new points and condenser. If their is a crack in the coil, it might fail at operating temperature.
