I just acquired a 1949 B. I have never had any experience with AC and I do not understand and cannot visulize how the back of the tractor should look. Someone has put a very crude three point on it, which I want to remove, but really don't know what to remove. If someone has a couple of photos of the rear, I would appreciate it very much.
Also can you tell me if this tractor has a magneto or a distributor. It looks like a normal distributor but it is mounted to something else. The distributor is mounted vertical to another unit that is mounted horizontal. I have the AC-11 manual but this is very vague. Thanks..... ..... .E-Mail is open for any pictures.

Most if not all early B"s prior to 1950 came with a Magneto till a certain serial number. From around 1950-on Distributors started to find their way into B,IB,C production unless someone did a swap and changed over to Distributor earlier. There are some "X" & "XH" series Wico units that look just like a Mag but need power to operate and work like a Distributor. The most popular Mag that came on the B/C machines was the Fairbanks "J" series Magneto. This unit is identified by its two piece designed lower cover, upper cap. Some first production B"s with the "BE" engine had the "K" series one piece cap Fairbanks Mag. Once in a while you would see one of those. We offer complete mag rebuilding, parts, and service. HTH

If its a distributor it would have battery voltage
fed to the coil and then to the distributor. A magneto creates its own voltage when the magnets pass by the coil. It may have a grounding wire on a switch near the operator for stopping the engine. Here's an old Wico mag with a grounding post. Hal

all B tractors came with magnitos for ignition. they mount horizontal. you can remove the mag and put an aftermarket distributor on it with a 90 degree drive. thats whats on the later CA and WD45 tractors.---- the later B tractors could come with a hydrualic lift on the back. it would look like a 3 point hitch upside down. across the back of the seat cushion would be maybe a 1-1/4 inch pipe from fender to fender. it would have a 6 inch long lift bracket on each end with the small cylinder attached and setting under the seat.--- the impelement would pin to the drawbar mounted under the transmission and use a large beam pinned in this area that ran toward the back end and lifted with short arm or chain to the horizontal pipe mentioned above.
