I just missed on the chance to buy a C with a single tire front end. The seller said it was a C but had CA decal on it. I never got to see it before it sold, but now I'm wondering just how rare that single tire front might be. I did a search on the photo gallery and out of 90 hits for Allis Chalmers C I only found 2 with a single tire front.

Also, what is the difference between a C and a CA? How would a rank amateur like me be able to tell the difference? Thanks!

What about the seat? in reply to Jim.UT, 09-18-2007 13:12:00
After looking at 90 photos of C's and 67 photos of CA's it looks like the CA has a single pan seat and the C has the little bench seat that looks about big enough for 1-1/2 butts...or 2 really skinny butts.

Also, I only found 1 CA with a single front wheel. I guess I should have bought that unit without waiting for a photo. He only wanted $300. He said it didn't run, but wasn't stuck and was complete. Too timid....

CA has or had a hand clutch of sorts that the C did not have. CA had rear hydraulic arms and either a snap coupler or a pin hitch. And of course the 3 speed in a B/C while the CA had a 4 speed.

A C has a 3 speed tranny and the CA a 4 speed. Also the CA has power adjust rear rims and the C doesn't.
