I did not get any response to my Dupont Nason question, so I'll ask differently.

I am looking for a decent paint that won't break the bank. Can someone give me some brands and paint numbers for Persian Orange #1?

Thanks,
Steve in S. IL

What paint would you use? That's an excellent question! I have two early Allis tractors that are close to their final paint jobs but I have no idea what paint would be the correct color.
y AGCO dealer has no idea what Persian #1 is. At the Gathering of the Orange in Hutchinson there were lots of beautiful Allis tractors painted several different shades of orange, does anyone know what is correct? The Farmall guys know what color to paint their stuff and those guys that like that green and yellow don't seem to have a problem. Unless someone can come up with the correct color for an early WC I think I'll just wing it. The chassis of the '36 will be painted flambou red and the sheet metal(hood, gas tank and fenders)Prairie gold. The '37 will have a burgandy chassis and the sheet metal will be champaign.

Hey Steve:

I had good luck with the off the shelf persian orange you get at farm and fleet. It is made by valspar and they even have good technical support if you need it.

Hope this helps.

Here's a PPG paint code for Persian Orange 1. Hal
60080

PS: Any of the paint company's can cross-reference this number. I used PPG's Omni Single Stage on a Troy Bilt tiller. It's not cheap, but you will like the results. The tiller looked new.

I have a 57 D14 and it is painted with Nason Dupont QTICD 74551C enamel. It is a 50"s Chrysler color but is a extremely close match for PO#1.

Go to your local AGCO dealer and get your paint. Also check and see if they have the hardner for it. If not check paint store find some 5 star hardner. With hardner paint will maintain the wet look and resist fading..

Oh, the last gallon I purchased from AGCO was $38.00 a gallon.HTH

PS, be sure to use a good resperator when painting especially with hardners!!!

There is NO respirator that will protect you from isocyanates in hardeners. Most, not all, hardeners contain isocyanate. Supplied air system is the only real protection.
