So I figured out how prime my oil pump,But when it was running Yesterday I shut it off because it started to sound dry.So I was going to take the oil out and pour it back in along with shooting some oil in the cylinder.When I drained the oil it had water in it.New head and head gasket and promperly torqued.I also have small cracks inbetween the cylinder sleeves.New radiator,when I pour water in itit runs out of the water pump.I think the water pump is bad,But why is water getting in my oil?B-25550,Troy in Wa.

It's been covered here well. The two most common failure are those freeze plugs in the head or the seals at the bottom of the sleeves. You also could have a cracked head or block but they are much less common.

I ordered a water pump so I con do a pressure test on the radiator.I stiil am having a hard time understanding where the seals are on the sleeves.dum in Wa.

The seals are located in the engine block at the bottom of the sleeves. To replace the seals the engine needs to be disassembled. The head and pan
needs to be removed along with the pistons and rods. Then the sleeves need to be removed and then the old seals. Hal

You do need a water pump that is for sure. When you can get that changed you should fill it with water and put a little pressure on the radiator and check under the rocker arms for a leak in the freeze plugs. I had a head come back from NAPA that had a valve grind and a coupla seats installed. One of the plugs had a pin hole. The cracks between the cylinders will not be a problem if you used a new head gasket. I note (new head) gasket as that was the problem of a leak on one of the boards a while back.

You should remove the oil pan and take a look in the area where the seals for your sleeves are and look for any leakage. The seals get hard and brittle from age then start leaking. Not an easy fix if they are. Hal

You might have a bad o-ring on one of the sleeves. I had this happen to my B Allis.

I'm not sure what you mean by o-ring?Where is it at on the sleeves.I didn't do a compleat rebuild I never took the crank or cam out.When I honed my sleeves I didn't notice any o-rings.

As Dick says. When you worked on the engine honing etc you may have wiggled one of them just enough to get to to leak. You can not see the o-rings with out pull the sleeves out of the engine which can be a chore in its self. BTDT. New o-ringa for all the sleeves will cost you less then $15 or did about a year ago, I got a set of them from an AGCO dealer

The O rings are toward the bottom of the sleeves and seal against the flat on the bottom hole of the block shown in the picture.
