How much fuel per hour does an Allis 7020 use driving down the road and working hard in the field? I need to figure how much fuel was used to work up land, plant foodplots. Thanks Joe

It's much easier to keep track of actual fuel use than trying to estimate it afterwards. The Nebraska tests measured fuel efficiency. At maximum pull, the 7020 provided 15.9 horsepower hours per gallon of fuel while delivering 123.8 horsepower. This means that, at full load, it burns 7.8 gallons per hour. They don't publish data on easy pulls or driving it around unloaded. As a rule, fuel consumption on diesels is almost proportional to power output - if load is 50%, fuel consumption is 50-60% of that at full load. This is a crude approximation. On gas tractors, it isn't even close as they take a fair amount of fuel idling and light loads - diesels do not.

You may be able to find that info from the Nebraska Testing Lab. Send an email to [email protected] Hal
