I've heard about putting a V8 in an Allis. I'm told that a certain model tractor will accept a Chrysler V8 with little modification. If anyone has any info on this subject please email me. I wish to hotrod an old tractor, just like I hotrod just about everything else I own. I saw one once drive by (or should I say FLY by) but I never got to talk to the guy. That tractor moved! Any help would be appreciated

A local mechanic once installed a 427 Chevy in a WD-45. He had to fabricate an adapter plate to mate the 427 to the WD-45 bellhousing. There were two main problems - speed and cooling. As previous posts mentioned, he could achieve speeds of 40+ MPH, but the tractor was very hard, if not impossible to control at these speeds due to play in the steering, etc.. Also, as you might imagine, the stock 45 radiator was not sufficient to cool the big Chevy. I believe he ended up taking the engine out. Sure was a sight to see, though! Good luck. -Brian

I saw an M Farmall with a 302 and C4 from a Maverick in it at the IA ST Fair. Seems like it was done by an FFA student. They said it would be for custom mowing. Supposedly it would run about 40mph. The rear tires sure showed it. Brian

Can't say as I know much about a V-8 in an Allis..... .but have a good friend that installed a Chev 427 truck motor in a Farmall M.....man it looked slick..... I asked him how it went..... he said he could pass the local hotrodders in their firebirds and camaros pull'in 5 tons of s**t...I beleive he still has it.

Have a friend who put a '30s flathead Ford V-8 in an F20 Farmall in the 50s. Had a lot of fun plowing with/against his neighbor, who had a JD G, in the same land and making about 4 rounds to the G's one. Of course, that doesn't take much, does it. :)

A V8 in an F20? I recently aquired an F20 that has sat for a few years. I have yet to bring it home but am curious if the motor is locked up or trashed, what would it require to put a V8 in one. I would appreciate any replies to my e-mail address. Hopefully I can make the old thing run again.
