I have an Allis Chalmers B serial#B25550.I just ordered A overhaul kit for my head.When the machine shop went to grind the new intake valves they found them to be too long(it wouldn't even put pressure on the new spring)Also the new valve guides are straight,the old ones are bigger on the one end,to keep the end of the spring centered.I called YT back and they said that was the only Valves and guides they carry for the B.Is there any other head that will fit on the B.I have the casting #s on the Head ,but don't know how to cross reference that #.What do I do now?? Troy , Call Darcy at Prairie Implement, He is in MN. And has been in the Allis Chalmers Business Since 1956. He dont mind helping. I am sure he can answer your questions. His # is 218-338-6156. I get all my parts from him and he has always been able to answer any of my question and I completely rebuilt a d-15 series 2 160 cu in motor. Nice Tractor.

How do I know if it is a Waukesha engine?The # on the block is AM2916-11.

I have been installing the straight valve guides for a number of years without any problems. That is the only valve guide that is made or as it was stated by my supplier. I have no comment about the valves as I do not have them in my hand.

Is it OK to do that?because it doesn't keep the bottom of the spring in the center.The "cup" on the spring has a 1/8" gap on the guide and cup,So it appears that it will "walk" and become off centered,but if it will work I'll install it.Any advice on the long intake valves.They told me they were the only one for the B.Thanks for the reply,Troy.

The pressure of the spring against the top will keep it centered well enough that the spring won't fail. After all it is a spring and you are not running 5000 RPM's on a 2000 mile trip.

No idea without seeing them in person. I would wonder about the springs being the correct springs length. I have never had a problem getting the valves from NAPA. I have small block Chevy valves in two heads. I had to alter the valve head to fit but the stems are the same in diameter and length. Some SB Chevy valve stems have two keeper grooves but I just use the top groove. You need to check the stem length against the old valves.

Im intrested.... Whats been done to make em fit? How much was the head milled? comp ratio? valve size? Is it for a puller engine?

I wouldn't know how to go about making a puller.Sounds fun though.I told my machinist about the advise I was givin about the valves not having to be perfectly centered so he is assembling/grinding the valves.Haven't got it back yet but I wonder what my new compression ratio is.
