For anyone who might like to know, I recently bought a 54 CA and brought it home. It's in relatively rough shape and has been sitting for a while. It is my second AC-- back in the 90's, as a teenager, I had a B for a year or so. Among other things, I drained water out from the crankcase, and had the radiator hose disconnected trying to get a leak stopped. My buddy and I were just trying to get it to fire, that's all. We got the battery hooked up, and tried it. The old girl coughed, and roared to life! With no muffler on, it was loud. Big flakes of rust tore out of the manifold and came floating down on us. We just stood there in amazement for a couple seconds, until I had the presence of mind to yell, "shut it off! The radiator isn't hooked up!" I totally had expected more of a struggle and ordeal to get it to run. After a little rigging, we managed to get it connected enough, even with a leaky hose, to be able to run it a little longer. She may be down, but she ain't out!
