Second example took place actually about ten years or so earlier involving the same John Deere farmer and my Grandpa. They each were plowing in adjacent fields my Grandpa with his WC and the neighbor (actually his hired hand) with his John Deere A with much the same results. The neighbor stopped his hired man and the yelling could be heard from a distance when he asked the hired man "why don't you open the d@mn thing up?" to which the hired man replied "he!! I have it wide open". Plenty of witnesses there then too cause this all took place next to the local country store.

I have several more accounts some of which involve me and tractor pulling with my bone stock D17 against the likes of an occasional 880, 460, R, 70 and 720 among others.

As it was a fairly large mud hole, one neighbor with an M Farmall backed up to the combine and someone hooked him on with a chain. Three other assorted tractors hooked onto the front of the M. The plan was for them all to dig out at the same time and pull the combine out. They all opened their throttles and did.

The fellow on the M had forgotten to shift out of reverse from backing up to the combine. They then had a combine and four tractors stuck. They finally rounded up a fifth tractor and got the whole works pulled out.
