Here's a picture of those early hose clamps. My first production '38 B has a springy thingy kill device mounted on the side of the original... get this... Wyco mag. I did a lot of research on this because Fairbanks Morse was contracted for OEM magnetos on the AC's. Trouble was during that first production year, FM wasn't machined up to meet the demand and many AC's were second sourced with Wyco mags from the factory. Because Wyco had been supplying JD's for so long, they figured out the springy thingy kill switch before FM got around to it. Neat history around these old girls. Another item for confusion is the "correct" color of the wheels. It turns out for very similar reasons that AC got wheels from several manufacturers and they came in many different colors. Black, Silver, Persian Orange and even Green! The tractors were all Persian Orange but they didn't seem to put much concern over the wheel color. I guess you could paint them purple to make a point. At least there would be total agreement from the correct police that purple wheels was the wrong color.
