Looking for a G to restore

Hello all, I am fairly new to this forum as I mainly own redtractors but I am looking to restore an Allis G for my wife. Her earliest memories were riding on that tractor with her grandfather. I now have the means to try and find one to restore. I am looking for a fixer upper. The problem I've seen lately is these seem to demand a high price. I do not want to spend a fortune for one as I plan to completely overhaul it. I am currently living in New Jersey but Travel to Kentucky quite regularly. I would even entertain one with a siezed motor if it were complete. Any help would be most appreciated. My plan is to suprise my wife with a restored tractor as my retirement gift to her when I retire in 2 years.

New Jersey is the "Garden State" surely with all the Truck Patches in your State it would seem that there wuold be an AC G close to Home.Drive around ,you wuold probably be surprised when you encounter some of the Old timers of your area just exactly what is out there.

Hi Mark!
Not sure where you're located in NJ, but if you're up North like I am, there are a few G's around the sod farms in Great Meadows where the Drag Strip is located. Not sure if any are for sale, but they did seem to have quite a few up there that they used on the sod farms. Also, Marshall Machinery in Honesdale, PA. has a few of them in different conditions around their huge salvage yard, from bare bones to partials. They may even have a complete one. The fellow you want to talk to would be Brian Dunn. He runs the used parts department. His number is 570-729-7117. He pretty much knows what he has on the mountain... Good Luck HTH

If you can make it to florida I can put you in touch with a guy here that used to restore them.. but has been getting out of the business.

I did similar to what you want to do.

I bought one of his unrestored 'core' units.. as he would take older g's inon trade for new restored ones.. etc. I then redid the G myself.. etc.

I should have his email around here somewhere..

Well, I wish you luck!

I live in Kentucky and G's just aren't all that common. In fact, I can only recall one I knew of that was regularly used to cultivate tobacco and that was nigh on to 30 years ago. You'll find 100 Super A's to every G on tobacco farms...or what were ONCE tobacco farms. Thanks to the Clinton adminstration, tobacco farming is now a shadow of what it once was.

I'd love to have one myself and I know a man who has 3....but he scoured the countryside to find them. They're a neat little machine, but rather uncommon.

They will occasionally appear for $1500. I paid $2000 and had to rebuild the engine to get it to start. Tractor works great for raking hay.
